Joey Maxwell and his wife first laid eyes on Maverick, a mere bundle of flesh and bone, at a rescue shelter. They decided to bring him home, and from that day on, Maverick became an integral part of their family for six wonderful years.
So, when his dog was diagnosed with lymphoma a couple of years back, Maxwell went above and beyond to support his furry friend in battling cancer – and the initial treatment was a triumph. Sadly, the illness resurfaced a few months ago, rendering his pup immobile.
Due to this, the owner decided to treat the dog by taking it for a carriage ride. What initially started as a way to make the days following MAF’s passing as enjoyable as possible ended up having a significant impact on the dog’s well-being.
Maxwell shared with CBS News, “When we go out, he barks at anyone passing by until they pet him because he believes the whole world is there to show him love.” And he might just be onto something. The overwhelming display of love and support for Maxwell and his dog has been truly astonishing. After sharing his story, Maxwell received a 50% discount on the carriage ride, leading both him and the cashier to tears. The people in Maxwell’s small town recognize Maverick and regularly approach him to offer their support.
It seems that these carriage rides are incredibly beneficial for MAF. It could be the reason why the dog continues to grow stronger and healthier with each passing day.
“We’re feeling really fortunate because we understand the significance of MAF in the lives of many others, and we can see that he is experiencing those emotions all over again,” Maverick is experiencing love: he is now able to independently sit and is gradually growing stronger with each passing day!”
